Postcards of Cornwall

1920 aerial view of of the area below Howard Smith Paper Mill - Cornwall Town.
The Stormont Cotton Mill (with tall chimney) is between the canal and the river. There appears to be a ship passing through the swing bridge at the foot of Augustus Street. The tall Ice House can be seen. The Court House building can be seen Two blocks east of the Ice House. Pitt Street is covered by trees. This view provides a good view of the split at the locks and dry dock to the east of the Town.

Cornwall Island.
This photo features St. Regis (NY on the left and QC on the right) as the large land mass in the centre of the photo. The writing on the photo identifies it as "St. Regis, Canada". Cornwall Island is just barely visible near the top of the photo. It seems that the photographer was above Snye, QC looking northwest. St. Regis Church steeple is quite noticeable on the right side; Cornwall Island has no church. The shape of the land matches the "peninsula" or point that is St. Regis (not St. Regis Island). That looks like Mud Island at the lower edge of the photo.

The canal is still in place. It’s interesting to see Pitt Street from “end-to-end.” Cornwall Square has not yet been built, the “barns” for city buses are visible (on the right). The Seaway building is in place (ca 1958). The community to the rear left horizon would be
St. Andrews. One can almost see the church steeple there.

Same view as above only the camera has captured the river front,
south of the canal. The Swing bridge and ice house are visible
at the bottom of Augustus Street.

The open fields are now filled with streets and homes.
